(Video) Pen Petroleum - Flood Care Mission 2024
In early December 2024, the state of Kedah experienced devastating floods that disrupted thousands of households, schools, and communities. In response, Pen Petroleum launched "Misi Peduli Banjir 2024", a heartfelt initiative to provide aid to flood victims, particularly those within Pen Petroleum's network of petrol stations and nearby schools affected by the disaster.
Pen Petroleum initiated a donation drive amongst Retail Partners and company staff. Together, they raised funds to extend meaningful assistance to those impacted, embodying the belief in giving back to society.
Assessing the Needs
Before distributing the aid, the team visited schools and stations in several affected areas to assess the damage and better understand the needs of the victims. These visits were crucial in ensuring the contributions addressed the specific challenges faced by the students and station staff.
Delivering Aid in Primary Schools
On 17 December, the program involved contribution to three primary schools in the district of Jitra, Kedah:
- SK Seri Banai (5km from Urban R & R Sdn Bhd, 9km from AA & T Business Resources Sdn Bhd)
- SK Lengkuas (6km from AA & T Business Resources Sdn Bhd)
- SK Titi Gajah (5km from AA & T Business Resources Sdn Bhd)
Here, each affected student was given an aid pack that came with uniforms, water bottles, and stationery sets. In addition to the student support, each school was provided with RM500 in cash to purchase office supplies, along with a new set of printer and printing paper to aid administrative tasks.
Unexpected Acts of Generosity
Kedai Wahab Seberang Jaya collaborated with Pen Petroleum in this program by sponsoring stationery sets to equip the students who would be going to secondary school. During the distribution day, the team from Kedai Wahab also offered their kind service to be present at the schools to take measurement of the affected students, to ensure that the students received the correct uniform sizes.
On a separate note, the team was deeply touched by the generosity of an anonymous individual who contributed head scarves and socks to support the female students.
Supporting Station Staff Under Pen’s Network
For the Caltex station staff affected by the floods, Pen Petroleum extended financial support, with RM100 provided to each staff member to purchase essential household items. Chevron Malaysia also supported by giving away electronic devices which was a timely gift to help the staff who suffered total loss of their homes.
A Shared Commitment to Society
"Misi Peduli Banjir 2024" was more than just an aid program; it was a testament to the strength of collective effort and the spirit of giving. Pen Petroluem and the participating stations are grateful to all parties' generosity in terms of time, effort and financial contributions that made this initiative a success.
