(Video) Sutera Matra Get Together - Desaru 2024
24 October 2024, Thursday - Sutera Matra held its annual Get Together Desaru 2024 – Build More Together, bringing together 105 Retail Partners and their families.
The event began with a bowling tournament that filled the air with cheers and excitement. One of the winners from Bus C mentioned “We like the bonding, friendly rivalry and teamwork spirit. Some of our team players are bowling for the first time.”
Following all the sporting excitement, the group enjoyed a seafood lunch at Warong Lobster, a restaurant operated by local fishermen. The afternoon continued with a scenic bus ride to explore the beauty of Desaru Coast and Rengit town, a peaceful area known for its beach and fishing villages.
Next was a visit to the cafe - Yard & Co. Facing the South China Sea, the cafe became the venue for everyone to attend an indoor plant workshop and a high tea session while enjoying the uninterrupted and calming view of the sea. The day concluded with a grand buffet dinner of local Johor delights at the Grand Ballroom of Four Points by Sheraton. In conjunction with Sutera Matra's 20th Anniversary, the Sutera Matra team also prepared a customized photo card and note for all stations to thank them for all the support and trust given to Sutera Matra.
The moment turned bittersweet a few days later as the Sutera Matra team received the news of the passing of Encik Hj. Mohd Shariffudin B. Mohd Ali of Bir Ha Management Services - a Retail Partner since 2011.
A tribute to the late Encik Hj. Mohd Shariffudin - Mr. Eddie Lim, Managing Director - Sutera Matra wrote this heartfelt letter to him.
Dear Hj,
Where do I start. I have known Hj since 1995 during Mobil Malaysia days when I was transferred to Retail as the Retail Sales Executive. 29 years. I was short of experience in Retail then, but Hj from day one have been supportive and went along with all my ideas. I must put up my hand, alot of my ideas bombed, but Hj's support was a constant. I left ExxonMobil in 2003 but when Hj agreement with ExxonMobil expired in 2011, Hj together with Kak contacted me. Will never forget that phone call. Hj basically agreed to convert to Caltex in that 15 minutes or so phone conversation (have never told anyone) despite having a Shell offer in writing which was higher in monetary terms vs Caltex. I can never repay Hj for his trust, his family for treating me as family and am grateful for the friendship. Will miss Hj's specialty nasi lemak and our usual jokes and laughs. Rest in peace Hj. I am glad I had the opportunity to get to know you up close and shared so many funny moments. Rest assured we will work with Farhan and Wahida on the business. All be good, my promise. I am sad but I know Hj is in a better place.
Goodbye my friend.
