Dear Retail Partners,

Welcome to Issue 18 of RetailBuzz! Here we are at the end of yet another year – a challenging one that pushed us all to continuously think of new ways to adapt to the current market conditions. If there is anything that the COVID-19 pandemic has taught us, it is that we are survivors; but we need to be able to pivot at a moment’s notice and this starts with sowing the seeds for the future today so we will be well-prepared come what may.

While Chevron is always here to assist the retail network, we strongly encourage all Retail Partners to take charge of the future of their stations by proactively looking for opportunities. As the lunar calendar’s Year of the Ox wraps up, let us take the bull by the horns and be bold in creating new opportunities for ourselves in hopes of enjoying a roaring Tiger year in 2022.

There are many ways in which Retail Partners can find opportunities to further elevate their customers’ experience with Caltex, for example:

  • Ensuring hassle-free refuelling by promoting CaltexGO (for Klang Valley and coming soon to all other areas);
  • Keeping the forecourt and indoor areas of the stations sanitised and clean;
  • Ensuring all equipment are well-maintained; and
  • Inspiring the frontliners to be friendly and polite at all times - smile!

These methods may seem simple, but they are crucial in helping drive up our Image Stewardship (IS) and Customer First (CF) scores at our stations which have taken a dip recently. Let’s all work together to enhance our Caltex brand image and ensure all customers leave our stations completely satisfied with our services!

It is the people within an organisation that make or break it, and without your support and trust we would not have been able to make it this far. One such person who has staunchly supported our organisation is Mr Jeff Tan, Deputy General Manager, who recently retired after spending 29 years with Chevron. We would like to take this opportunity to sincerely thank Jeff for his many years of service and wish him all the best in his future undertakings. Naturally, there are many friends and Retail Partners who want to bid Jeff farewell too – these messages have been compiled into a special feature which you can read at https://www.retailbuzz.com.my/news/read/retirement-a-new-chapter-for-jeff-tan

Chevron also heartily congratulates Dato’ Saw Chang Heng on being conferred the Darjah Setia Pangkuan Negeri (DSPN) by Yang di-Pertua Negeri Pulau Pinang Tun Ahmad Fuzi Abdul Razak in July 2021, in conjunction with the YDP’s 72nd birthday. This is a wonderful testament to your leadership skills and we hope you continue to inspire all of us with your achievements.

With the ongoing social media presence standardisation project for Caltex stations, Chevron is also taking steps to help stations become more digitally engaged with their communities to ramp up Caltex’s online brand presence.

On that note, Chevron would like to congratulate Caltex Setia Alam and Caltex Bachang for leveraging their stations’ social media channels to reach out to and support their local communities. These stories, along with other highlights from our retailers, are featured in this issue’s Salam Suria segment – check it out to see how these Retail Partners have embodied the Caltex spirit and demonstrated a great deal of generosity through their efforts to give back to the community.

Your feedback on Chevron’s initiatives is always taken into consideration, and hence for 2022, we are revamping RetailBuzz to enable you to receive fortnightly updates on the latest happenings within the retail network. This means that we will be retiring the quarterly format that we have had since 2017, so do keep an eye out for the new look that will be launched in January 2022.

Rest assured that we have many other initiatives in store for next year to support all of you, our valued Retail Partners. It goes without saying that the RBCs and BMBCs will work closely with you to make 2022 an exceptional year, as Malaysia starts on its path to recovery after COVID-19.

In the meantime, continue to stay safe and best wishes to everyone for a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.
