Leaving A Caltex Legacy: Customer Loyal To Brand For Nearly 70 Years

Located at the major intersection of Argyll Road and Transfer Road in George Town, Penang, Caltex Jalan Argyll is considered a prominent landmark in the area. What started off as a humble petrol station decades ago is now one of the longest-established stations in the Caltex network, with the latest owner, Mr Tan Keng Sin (Tong Lee Service Station Sdn Bhd) taking over in 2007.

Given its history and prominence in the area, it’s no surprise that the station has garnered a loyal following over the years. Perhaps a story that best demonstrates the unwavering loyalty to Caltex Jalan Argyll is that of Mr Sital Sadhwani, who has been a regular customer since 1954 – that’s close to 70 years of support for the station!

Mr Sital recently shared with Chevron his memories of Caltex Jalan Argyll back in the old days when it was operated by another retailer. Even though he had moved from Argyll Road to Service Road in 1964 and then to Tanjung Tokong in 1992, he continued to frequent Caltex Jalan Argyll due to the excellent service he always received. Of course, the quality of the product also played a huge role and Mr Sital has been extremely satisfied ever since he switched over to Caltex from a different brand of fuel.

After hearing this story of incredible brand loyalty, Chevron decided to surprise him with a small token of appreciation at the station. Mr Sital was all smiles when presented with the surprise, however, he was also very shy and did not wish to have his photo taken.

Chevron sincerely thanks Retail Partner Mr Tan for continuing Caltex Jalan Argyll’s strong legacy by providing customers with the best service possible and making people like Mr Sital proud to be loyal Caltex customers.

Inspiring stories like these highlight the Caltex legacy in Malaysia and how consistent efforts to maintain a high Customer First (CF) and Image First (IF) score at Caltex stations does result in customer loyalty and brand recognition over the decades.
